I am exceedingly thankful for the protection and healing I have experienced through an understanding of Christian Science. One day while I was bathing in the surf, a large wave picked me up, and when it broke close to shore, I landed with full force on my head. I remember thinking instantly, "Man is always conscious." My neck hurt, and I could not turn my head to the right. Also, I was unable to use my right hand, which was discolored and very painful.
My husband, who was nearby, reminded me that Mind knows no accidents and that only good can appear. The realization of this truth filled me with a great sense of joy and peace, to which I credit the healing. The discoloration disappeared at once, and I found I could use the hand. The next day there was soreness and swelling, but I assumed all of my normal daily activities. Before long, both the hand and the neck were entirely healed.
About ten years ago I had attacks of what I believed to be appendicitis. I received help from a Christian Science practitioner, but the condition was met only for the time being. Then I began to see that I had to do more about claiming my freedom for myself. One day I was driving our car, and an attack came. It was difficult to handle the wheel, and the traffic was heavy, but I knew I had to get home. There was no choice. I had to meet the condition then and there. Recalling a Christian Science lecture I had attended shortly before, I remembered that it was recommended to list reasons for gratitude. This I did mentally. I was still counting my blessings when I arrived home. The attacks never recurred.
