It is with a sense of deepest gratitude for all that Christian Science has done for me that I submit this testimony. Over forty years ago I became interested in Science. Since then I have not taken any medicine or had the help of a physician.
My first outstanding healing in Christian Science was during an epidemic, of Spanish grippe. I was taken very ill and became so weak that I could scarcely raise my hand. A Christian Science practitioner was called and worked faithfully at my bedside for part of one night. The crisis was passed, and within a short time I was up and about, completely healed. Through the help of a practitioner and my own understanding of perfect God and of man as His perfect expression, I was more recently healed within a few days of a badly sprained knee.
For the wonderful protection afforded me during World War II and the years immediately following, all of which I spent in Berlin, Germany, I am exceedingly grateful. Because of the prohibition of Christian Science for four years, we were outwardly cut off from The Mother Church. We had no services and no Christian Science literature. Never for one moment, however, did we feel any sense of separation, but only the sense of support. This resulted in our receiving the weekly Lesson-Sermons in the Christian Science Quarterly in most unusual ways. As members of The Mother Church, my family and I had come to think of these lessons as our daily bread, and consequently it would have been most difficult without them. In spite of persecution, we were even able to pass them on to a few other Christian Scientists and thus share our blessing.
