"Truth is revealed. It needs only to be practised." This quotation from page 174 of the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, stood out to me when I became acquainted with Christian Science. From the time I commenced reading Science and Health I was impressed with the fact that it stated the Principle which Jesus used in his works of healing and that it was here for us to use in healing also. This unfoldment gave great joy, freedom, and expectancy.
An opportunity to test this Principle and our ability to heal through it came in the first few months of my reading of the book, when a member of the family awoke one morning with the symptoms of laryngitis. This remark was made: "If the things in this book are true and based on Principle, then we can use them to heal this trouble." We applied the truths we had read, and the healing which followed has been permanent.
Another healing that was accomplished in the early period of our reading the textbook was that of severe astigmatism of the eyes. My husband had been told that there was no cure for it and that he would always have to wear glasses. While he was reading Science and Health this condition was corrected. He took off the glasses and found he had normal focus and vision. He did very close work without any difficulty. Many years later when his eyes were examined at his place of employment, it was found that his vision was still normal.
