It is with sincere gratitude that I wish to tell of an experience I had about three years ago. I had been to visit a friend. On the return home late at night, our car was struck with considerable force by another car, and I was thrown against the door of the glove compartment. Immediately I declared, "There are no accidents in divine Mind." In a few minutes an ambulance arrived. A doctor asked to make an examination, but this I declined. I told him I only wanted to be taken home.
He insisted that I was severely hurt and said, "You have broken ribs, your chest is crushed, and you probably have a punctured lung." I had been holding steadfastly to the truth, but I was unable to move out of the car. With the statement of the doctor I started to experience greater physical discomfort than ever. Then these words from page 184 of Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy came distinctly to my thought: "Belief produces the results of belief, and the penalties it affixes last so long as the belief and are inseparable from it." I asked a member of my family who was present to call a Christian Science practitioner for help. When I refused to have medical aid or to go to the hospital, the doctor entered the ambulance and drove away.
A member of my family soon arrived in a car and took me to my home. For two days I continued to have help from the practitioner. On the evening of the second day my telephone rang, and a young mother asked for prayerful metaphysical help. My first thought was, "I can't help." Then I turned completely to God and declared, "Now, Father, we are all Your children, and I know You will take care of that little mother." I was confident that this was already being done, and I knew that every idea is already in its right place, and is held securely by the law of Principle.
