I should like to tell of two experiences especially dear to me, because they are a constant source of inspiration and encouragement. The first experience occurred when I was still quite young in Christian Science.
I had put a big washing out on the line one winter day, and at evening it was still quite wet; so I decided to leave it overnight. The next morning I discovered that five articles were missing. The things taken were lovely hand-embroidered pieces, and one piece from each set hanging on the line had been taken.
Indignation flared up in me. Not one steadying, forgiving thought came to me. It was as though everything I had thus far learned in Christian Science had been wiped out of consciousness. It was Wednesday, and I went to the testimony meeting in the evening, but my erroneous thinking had such a hold on me that I scarcely heard what was being read.
