"A grateful heart a garden is." So reads the first line of a familiar hymn in the Christian Science Hymnal (No. 3). The truth expressed in this verse has been proved many times in my experience since my first testimony appeared in the Journal of May, 1933.
An outstanding experience in which Christian Science was applied with healing results proved the truth of Mrs. Eddy's words in Science and Health (p. 380), "Nothing but the power of Truth can prevent the fear of error, and prove man's dominion over error."
While making preparation to attend my annual association meeting and a week prior to the date set for the meeting, I was stricken with such severe pain that I was confined to my room and was unable to continue with the preparation for the time being. Although physically incapacitated, I was mentally alert to the need of realizing man's God-given dominion and of holding thought steadfastly to the truth of man's perfect relationship with his Father-Mother God.
