This testimony is gratefully submitted with a sincere desire to be obedient to the Scriptural command (Prov. 3:27), "Withhold not good from them to whom it is due, when it is in the power of thine hand to do it."
My parents' introduction to Christian Science was brought about as follows. The family had moved to Chicago from the East, and my father's brother offered to drive my parents to different sections of the city in search of a place to live. In the course of doing so one Sunday morning, he parked across the street from a branch Church of Christ, Scientist. The church service was just over, and he asked my parents to pay close attention to the expressions on the faces of those leaving the church.
It was during the so-called depression years, but there was something about the radiance, joy, and well-being reflected by the members of that congregation as they left the church service that made a deep and lasting impression on my parents. My uncle, who had only recently become interested in Christian Science, later invited them to join him in attending a lecture on this Science. What they heard in that one hour assured them that this religion held the answer to every human need. That lecture marked the turning point in my family's experience.
