Testimonies of Healing

From the December 1957 issue of The Christian Science Journal

About five years ago I badly injured my right arm, apparently breaking it in two places. I declared that nothing had happened to a spiritual idea, which I knew in reality I was. However, my arm was completely useless, and the pain was quite severe. So I went into a store in which I knew the proprietress to be a Christian Scientist and asked her to telephone a practitioner, which she did. Help was immediately given, and I went on my way.

For a week there was considerable pain, and the arm was still useless. Then it came to me very clearly to go to the Sanatorium of the Christian Science Benevolent Association, in San Francisco, California. I was received there with much compassion, and I shall never cease to be grateful for the loving support which the nurses and associates there gave me. I had a few battles with mortal mind, particularly in the night, but Truth prevailed, and in approximately two weeks I left the Sanatorium, able to use my arm and carry on my home duties. In a comparatively short time the arm was entirely well. Mrs. Eddy assures us in Science and Health (p. 380), "Truth is always the victor." I am sincerely grateful that I have been able to prove this statement many times.

Another beautiful instance of protection came to me when I was led to accept a business position. The offer came to me when I had no particular need for it, and not having worked in an office for more than thirty years, I felt it might be unwise to accept the position. However, hardly before I realized it, I was regularly employed. Some months later when my husband suddenly passed on, I was grateful that I had been provided with a good position and right activity, even before I had asked for them, because I was at an age when it is difficult to find an office position.
