FULFILLING DIVINE PURPOSE

From the December 1957 issue of The Christian Science Journal

We read in Luke (17:20, 21) that when Jesus "was demanded of the Pharisees, when the kingdom of God should come, he answered them and said, The kingdom of God cometh not with observation: neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you."

Mary Baker Eddy says in "Miscellaneous Writings" (p. 154), "It is the purpose of divine Love to resurrect the understanding, and the kingdom of God, the reign of harmony already within us."

Mankind must be awakened to understand God, His spiritual universe, and man's real identity as inseparable from Him. For only through this understanding can the harmony of the universe be apprehended and the spiritual man of God's creating be brought to light. Recognition of spiritual truth is not a remote probability but a present possibility.
