"I REST MY CASE"

From the December 1957 issue of The Christian Science Journal

When the plaintiff in a court of law has presented evidence which he believes will support his contention, he announces to the judge, in substance, "I rest my case." After the opposing party has presented his testimony, the plaintiff may normally submit further evidence to offset the defense. When he is satisfied that he has refuted the defendant's testimony, he again rests, and the case is submitted to the judge or jury for a decision.

How like the litigant in court is the Christian Scientist who pleads a case before the tribunal of Spirit, God, on behalf of the rights of the individual to freedom from discord, sin, disease, or death! Whether the one in need appears before the court of Spirit in propria persona or with the assistance of a Christian Science practitioner, the procedure is substantially the same.

The one claiming the right to immunity from discord of any kind will earnestly plead his case scientifically according to the rules of healing presented in Christian Science. He will honor the high court of Spirit, God, as the supreme and perfect judge. He will recognize the facts of being and argue in favor of the rights of man as the spiritual image and likeness of God.
