Thirty-three years ago I suffered a mental and physical breakdown. For three years I consulted one doctor after another with no success. About this time a friend was going to Germany, and she did all she could to persuade me to accompany her. Finally, although reluctantly, I consented to go.
In Germany I again consulted various physicians, also to no avail. When I had exhausted my strength and had no further desire to go on living, I received some addresses of Christian Science practitioners, sent to me from a friend, and after a great deal of urging on her part I went to see a practitioner. She spoke so lovingly and calmly to me that I too became calm. She explained something of Christian Science to me and then said, "Now let us pray together." I could make only one request of God: "Father, grant the prayer this woman is praying for me."
The very next day I felt happy again and had no more fear. However, I did not take up a serious study of Christian Science, and after a few months my condition was practically the same as before.
