Testimonies of Healing

In the Bible we read (Eph. 2:19)...

From the October 1959 issue of The Christian Science Journal

In the Bible we read (Eph. 2:19), "Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellowcitizens with the saints, and of the household of God." Through the glorious teachings of Christian Science, I have found my real identity as a child of God. No longer do I feel a stranger to happiness or a foreigner to security, but truly do I feel in fellowship with all that is good and worthwhile.

Many years of investigating various religions and philosophies had not satisfied my longing for an ideal to which I could aspire. Finally I came to regard myself as an atheist. One morning, however, in despair I prayed to God to show me the way into a fuller understanding of existence. My prayer was quickly answered, for the next evening I was introduced to a student of Christian Science, in whose home I began to read the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. It contained the truth for which I had been searching, and it has transformed my whole experience.

Mrs. Eddy writes in Science and Health (p. 571), "Clad in the panoply of Love, human hatred cannot reach you." These words were proved irrefutably true when I was involved in an automobile accident. A large, steel-bodied transportation van, struck broadside by a city bus, fell on my lightweight car, in which I was sitting. As I saw the van falling towards me, I declared audibly, "God is Love."
