In the Journal of August, 1941, is my mother's testimony telling of our acceptance of Christian Science and of some of my childhood healings. With it is my verification of the healings, which have remained permanent. Since then I have had many other healings.
Primary in my list of blessings is that of membership in The Mother Church and also in a branch church while I was a student in the Sunday School. This early membership, particularly in The Mother Church, gave me the needed support to withstand the contagion of worldly habits, such as smoking and drinking.
Shyness and a feeling of inferiority have been overcome step by step through the spiritual effort required for the successful performance of church duties. While serving as Second Reader, I was also able to correct my pronunciation of many words and to overcome a lack of poise. This verse from Isaiah was especially helpful (41: 10): "Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness."
