If we accept the basic proposition of Christian Science that, as Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, says in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 468), "All is infinite Mind and its infinite manifestation, for God is All-in-all," then we can never believe that Mind and its manifestation, man, are without purpose. Since Mind and its manifestation are all that really exist, then the entire purpose of Mind must be to manifest itself. Since Mind is infinite, its manifestation is infinite, and the unfolding of infinite being goes on throughout eternity.
There is nothing to obstruct or hinder infinite unfoldment in multifarious forms, for there is no mind or being other than the divine. Mind, God, is all-power; therefore there is no other power to thwart the divine purpose or to oppose the will of God. Mind knows only its own high purpose and can never be conscious of frustration or disappointment. Knowing only its own holy intention, Mind has no sense of aimlessness or hesitation. Man, the manifestation of Mind, reflects all that Mind knows and consciously fulfills the purpose of God.
Infinite Mind is expressed in infinite ideas which are complete yet forever unfolding in accord with the divine plan. Each idea is unlimited in its expression of the qualities of Mind, God, and each individuality is fulfilling the divine purpose of spiritual being. In "Miscellaneous Writings," Mrs. Eddy says (p. 82): "Man is the offspring and idea of the Supreme Being, whose law is perfect and infinite. In obedience to this law, man is forever unfolding the endless beatitudes of Being; for he is the image and likeness of infinite Life, Truth, and Love."
