In the Bible (James 1:17) we read that "every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning." This has been proved to me during the past nine years in which I have been studying Christian Science. Many physical healings have occurred in our family through unreserved reliance upon God as the Giver of good, and much peace and joy have come to me through the understanding of God which I have gained in Christian Science.
While I was living in an isolated location outside the United States, many fears bothered me with regard to the rearing of our small children there and made me realize my need of a greater sense of security and happiness. Through the kind help and encouragement of a friend who was a Christian Scientist, I began to study the Lesson-Sermon from the Christian Science Quarterly and to apply some of the teachings of Christian Science to my daily life. Before long the opportunity to prove its healing efficacy presented itself.
An abnormal growth appeared on the body of our infant son. It grew in size, and in my fear I requested medical treatment. The medical opinion was that the growth was malignant and that it would be necessary to send the child to a specialist in another country for an operation. My husband and I were new students of Science, but we agreed that we could not accept this verdict and that we would rely entirely upon God. We cabled a request for Christian Science treatment to a practitioner. Right away a noticeable change took place, and in a short time the growth disappeared.
