Many years ago, before I knew anything of Christian Science, I had a throat condition which had persisted for about four years, and it appeared that I was losing my voice. I had visited several throat specialists, but they could not help me. All their reports were conflicting, and one recommended that I be hospitalized. Since no one was able to diagnose the condition, I was desperate. While under the care of a doctor, I took medicines and had injections for several months, but there were no results.
About this time, through a business associate, I first heard something of Christian Science. Then one day, evidently being divinely led, my husband brought me a copy of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, thinking it would be nice for me to read. I was about to visit a throat specialist at one of the large hospitals. The thought came to me to take the book along to read while I was traveling on the train to his office. Although I could not wholly understand what I was reading, I had faith that God could help me, and I suddenly realized that I had lost all fear of the throat condition. After making a thorough examination, the doctor informed me that he could find nothing wrong with my throat. Shortly after, I became aware of the fact that my voice was clearer than it had ever been before. It had been an instantaneous healing.
Since that time my husband and I have become active members of a branch church, our children have been brought up in Christian Science, and we all are members of The Mother Church.
