"Unless thy law had been my delights, I should then have perished in mine affliction. I will never forget thy precepts: for with them thou hast quickened me" (Ps. 119:92, 93). These words of the Psalmist, stated thousands of years ago, sum up the gratitude of many who, through Christian Science, have experienced the healing and regenerating power of God.
Daily study of the Bible and of the writings of Mrs. Eddy enables one to gain an increasingly satisfying and practical understanding of God's law. As to the nature of law, Mrs. Eddy says in "Miscellaneous Writings" (p. 259), "Whatever appears to be law, but partakes not of the nature of God, is not law, but is what Jesus declared it, 'a liar, and the father of it.'" Since God is the lawmaker, law must express God's nature. We shall understand the nature of law in proportion to our understanding of the nature of God.
Law is eternal, unchanging, universal, ever active, good, beneficent, pure, and so on. It establishes and maintains health and freedom from every form of bondage or limitation and unfolds good through unlabored activity.
