THERE is great cause for rejoicing when a branch Church of Christ, Scientist, is built, paid for, and dedicated. Those who have worked and prayed to bring the work to a successful conclusion have felt a power, an energy, that has impelled them many times to surmount obstacles and overcome difficulties. In this they have confirmed Mrs. Eddy's statement in Science and Health (p. 134), "There is divine authority for believing in the superiority of spiritual power over material resistance."
Although it may seem that with such an achievement church members might be justified in letting down a bit, this really is no time to stand still. It is the time to go forward in the work of greatest importance: that of continuing to build Church in consciousness, that is, of bringing their every thought into accord with Truth and Love. As this is done, the branch church will be vibrant with activity and fulfill its important mission in the community, that of helping to redeem mankind from its belief in any possible existence apart from God.
The Christ-spirit, the vitalizing essence of Church itself, is necessary to the successful functioning of a church membership in carrying on its activities, and these activities evidence the Christ at work in the hearts, the minds, the lives of those who respond to its divine influence.
