MAN'S UNITY WITH GOD

From the March 1963 issue of The Christian Science Journal

CHRISTIAN SCIENCE reveals and proclaims man's unity with God. Because God made man in His image and likeness, man must be the expression of God's being. Just as a ray of light is inseparable from the sun, so the relationship of God and man is one of inseparability.

The neophyte in the study of this Science finds that the first footstep in gaining an understanding of its truths is to be convinced of the spiritual fact that God is. In this simple way the search for an understanding of God begins. In this quest the student becomes assured, as he advances in understanding, that he is a spiritual son of God, as the Scripture teaches. Furthermore, not only does he become aware of this sonship, but he arrives at the point where he feels the need of being ever conscious of his unity with his Maker, of knowing Him better, and of learning more of His nature and essence.

This active desire to know God brings unmistakable fruitage in healing results. Whether there is some sin that needs to be eradicated or whether the need is for physical healing or for healing of unhappiness or lack, the prayer to be ever conscious of man's unity with God brings the peace which presages and unfailingly accompanies the answer to prayer.
