ANNOUNCEMENT

New Manager

Department of Branches and Practitioners

Charles Louis Reilly, C. S. B., of Los Angeles, California, has been appointed Manager of Department of Branches and Practitioners of The Mother Church, effective June 7, 1965. He succeeds Norman B. Holmes, C. S.B., who has been appointed a member of The Christian Science Board of Lectureship.

Mr. Reilly had his early schooling in St. Paul, Minnesota. After completing his education in the Institute of Musical Art of the City of New York, he moved to California and began a professional career as a pianist and organist. In 1926 he joined a branch church and The Mother Church and a few years later received Primary class instruction. In 1940 he entered the public practice of Christian Science.

Mr. Reilly has held membership in several branch churches and has served in various capacities, including those of First Reader and chairman of the executive board. He is now a member of Second Church of Christ, Scientist, Los Angeles.

For eight years Mr. Reilly served as Committee on Publication for Southern California. In 1955 he became an authorized teacher of Christian Science. Since 1960 he has served as a member of The Christian Science Board of Lectureship.

Address inquiries to Christian Science Nursing, Room 318, 107 Falmouth Street, Boston, Massachusetts 02115.

BLESSINGS OF CHURCH MEMBERSHIP

Mary Baker Eddy says in "Miscellaneous Writings" (pp. 144, 145), "The Church, more than any other institution, at present is the cement of society, and it should be the bulwark of civil and religious liberty."

The Mother Church is a strong support in a troubled world. Often we receive letters from newly admitted members telling us of the great joy that has come to them through the blessings of Church membership.

Application blanks and information concerning Church membership may be obtained at Christian Science Reading Rooms, from clerks of branch churches and societies, from practitioners listed in The Christian Science Journal and in The Herald of Christian Science. Applications may also be obtained from Gordon V. Comer, Clerk, 107 Falmouth Street, Boston, Massachusetts, U.S.A. 02115.

TUESDAY EVENING MEETING

Following the Christ

The joyful message on the above subject was presented at the Tuesday Evening Meeting held in the extension of The Mother Church on June 8, 1965, the day following the Annual Meeting. A loving invitation is extended to all branches of The Mother Church throughout the world to share this message with their members and with other members of The Mother Church by means of tape recording.

Every Christian Scientist, desiring to behold more of the Christ in his daily walk and conversation, in church activities, and in world affairs, will welcome the opportunity to attend this meeting when presented in his community.

The Christian Scientists who addressed the meeting considered four aspects of the theme entitled "Following the Christ."

The initial talk, "'The living Christ, the practical Truth,'" was given by Mrs. Elizabeth Vera Gorringe, C. S. B., of London, England.

Arnold H. Exo, C. S. B., of Chicago, Illinois, considered the subject of "Following the Christ in Our Individual Lives."

Mrs. Edna May Evans White, C. S. B., of Portland, Oregon, spoke from her own fruitful experience as a branch church member on the topic "Following the Christ in Church Activities."

The closing address, entitled "Following Our Leader as She Follows Christ," was delivered by Roy Garrett Watson, C. S. B., of Brookline, Massachusetts.

Tape recordings in English, French, German, or Spanish for presentation at a special members' meeting may be borrowed without charge by any branch church, society, or Christian Science organization at a university or college. Where there is no nearby branch, an informal group of members of The Mother Church may apply to hold such a meeting. Also available are manuscript translations in French, German, and Spanish, as well as in Danish, Dutch, Italian, Portuguese, and Swedish.

For application cards and further information please address the Department of Branches and Practitioners, 107 Falmouth Street, Boston, Massachusetts, U.S.A. 02115. Included in each application should be a tentative list of suitable dates covering a period of at least two months.
