TRUTH MUST HAVE ITS INDIVIDUAL EXPRESSION

From the February 1966 issue of The Christian Science Journal

ONE of the basic methods of destroying error in Christian Science is to impersonalize it and then to cast it out. We separate it from man, see it as a supposition without cause or effect, and thus render it null and void. When a lie has nothing to identify it, it drops into oblivion.

By the same logic we must do just the reverse with respect to good; we must individualize it. The whole purpose of Christian Science demonstration is to see that good is expressed individually, to see that God does have His effect, His man, and that good has its concrete manifestation. The benediction in the Bible (Matt. 3:17), "This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased," is a direct instance of Truth identifying man as its expression.

The recognition of the worth of the individual is a proper ingredient in our social structure. The rewards for outstanding performance, a right return for excellence in business, the appreciation of individual merit, are all instances of "Well done" in its various modes.
