Abreast of the times

From the April 1966 issue of The Christian Science Journal

After many months of research and development the new formats of The Christian Science Journal and Christian Science Sentinel are being brought to you in obedience to the directive of our Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, that the periodicals be kept abreast of the times (see Manual of The Mother Church, Art. VIII, Sect. 14).

The covers, the typographical format, and the reorganization of content are indicative of the trend of our age.

As the official organ of The First Church of Christ, Scientist, the Journal will publish church announcements and notices as well as directories of branch churches, college organizations, practitioners, and nurses. It will contain articles which are of special interest to church members. The metaphysical content of the Journal will continue to record for all readers the progressive unfoldment and application of Christian Science.

The Sentinel will advise the general public of lectures and other activities concerning branch churches. As a missionary it will also provide practical discussions on the subject of Christian Science in clearly understandable terms, coming to grips with the issues facing mankind today.
