From the October 1967 issue of The Christian Science Journal

In order to avoid any possible adulteration of Christian Science, Mrs. Eddy requires in the Manual of The Another Church (Art. VIII, Sect. 10) that "a member of this Church shall not publish profuse quotations from Mary Baker Eddy's copyrighted works without her permission, and shall not plagiarize her writings."

The use of a strictly limited number of quotations from Mrs. Eddy's writings is allowed in articles in the Christian Science periodicals. Provision is also made by our Leader in The First Church of Christ, Scientist, and Miscellany (pp. 213, 214) for branches of The Mother Church to have one of three listed quotations inscribed on the walls of their edifices.

However, the Trustees under the Will of Mary Baker Eddy, on whom the responsibility rests for protecting the copyright of Mrs. Eddy's works, have consistently withheld permission for the use of quotations on the walls of Reading Rooms or church offices, on cards or envelopes to be placed in hymnal racks, in brochures, advertisements, programs, circulars, and similar miscellaneous material.
