As a testimony to the truth demonstrated by Christ Jesus, and with very deep gratitude and respect for Mrs. Eddy's incomparable work in revealing the truth to us, I wish to recount some blessings I have received through the study of Christian Science.
During a picnic beside a river, in a group with which I was associating for the first time, I heard the Lesson-Sermon read as outlined in the Quarterly. Of that lesson, listened to in such an unusual place, I retained only these words (Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, p. 518): "And blessed is that man who seeth his brother's need and supplieth it, seeking his own in another's good."
These words induced me to accept an invitation to attend a Christian Science Sunday service. It was at the time when Christian Science was just beginning to become established in our city, and the services were still being held by a group which met informally in a private home. Later I married the young Christian Scientist who had invited me to the picnic. Initially, I listened to whatever of Christian Science happened to be read in my presence, and sometimes I went to the Sunday services.
