What to Do About Obstacles

From the May 1967 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Heaven is harmony, and there is no real obstacle to harmony. But in our human experience it seems that we are constantly being confronted with circumstances that suggest we are victims of inharmony. It would seem that inharmony is natural and is to be expected, while harmonious existence with our Father-Mother God is somewhere other than where we are now.

We can rejoice that this false claim of mortal experience is only a mental obstacle course, which, when we rely on divine Truth as our all-powerful deliverer, forces us to learn how to prove better our actual spiritual dominion over all material difficulties. With each obstacle surmounted, we see more clearly the true state of bliss in which we actually abide—heaven, harmony.

The ever-faithful and persevering Apostle Paul wrote to the Christians at Corinth, "I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ's sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong."II Cor. 12:10; While laboring to establish the early Christian Church, he overcame many attempts of mortal mind to destroy both him and the Church.
