Christian Science is a boon to the sufferer, the repentant sinner, the grief-stricken, the impoverished. It holds the solution of every little problem and of every great one. And the healing it brings to each personal woe has its important place in the breaking of the grasp which the carnal mind has on the race. But liberty from personal discords is more easily won when one comprehends the infinity and the eternality of the Science of being which he is demonstrating. One finds that against a background of understanding the immensity of this Science the human discords confronting him diminish in importance in his thought and vanish.
The Science of being is the Science of the ages. It has appeared throughout history in the measure and in the form that people have been ready to receive it. In "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" Mary Baker Eddy says, "Christ's Christianity is the chain of scientific being reappearing in all ages, maintaining its obvious correspondence with the Scriptures and uniting all periods in the design of God."Science and Health, p. 271;
Our age was ready for the discovery of the Science of being, else it would not have been revealed. Reverence for Mrs. Eddy increases in the degree of our ability to see what she saw—"the design of God." We cannot evaluate anything or anybody beyond the scope of our apprehension. So, if we would assess the character of our Leader and the greatness of her discovery, we must grow in character and in the understanding of what she discovered. We must discern the brilliance of the light of Science, exercise its power, penetrate its depths, compass its truths, and perceive man in God's likeness.
