What a joyous, momentous year the bells of 1966 rang in! It was the centennial of our beloved Leader's discovery of the age-old Truth which the prophets dimly apprehended. This Truth, illuminated in all its healing, redemptive power through the advent of Christ Jesus, has finally been made practical and demonstrable in this age through Mary Baker Eddy's founding of Christian Science.
Coincident with this centennial was the fact that 1966 was proclaimed in the United States as "The Year of the Bible." Thus the Bible and "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, both proclaiming the Word of God in all its power, might, purity, and completeness, were brought before the public and are rebuking the gross materialism of the times and the conflicting forces of evil, which are endeavoring to mesmerize mankind into a state of apathy, confusion, dissension, doubt, and fear.
How can we, as individuals, contribute to the continuing celebration of this sacred event, this jubilee of Spirit? There is one way only: by living Christian Science to our highest understanding through consecration and impeccable morality. Our hourly devotion to the practice of the teachings and rules of Christian Science— free from any and all adulteration—as loyal, faithful, obedient followers of the Christ-principle will celebrate this jubilee exemplarily. Briefly stated, it is to live the Christ in thought, word, and deed.
