"The two cardinal points"

To the new student of Christian Science, this Science may seem so vast that he may question what basic essentials he should try to grasp and hold to first.

If he is puzzled in this way, he should, perhaps, first remember that Christ Jesus was the most successful practitioner of Christian Science the world has ever known. He might ask himself, then, What were the salient points that underlay the Master's wonderful healing work?

No one in our day has understood the life of Jesus as well as did Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science. The many marvelous healing works which she performed prove that she understood his teachings. Because of this we should take particular notice of what she describes as "the two cardinal points" underlying Jesus' healing work. In "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" she says: "The 'man of sorrows' best understood the nothingness of material life and intelligence and the mighty actuality of all inclusive God, good. These were the two cardinal points of Mind-healing, or Christian Science, which armed him with Love." Science and Health, p. 52;
