Christian Science heals the sick. It healed me of cancer in the last stages over thirty-five years ago. After an operation I was released from a hospital with the medical verdict that nothing more could be done for me and that I had only a short time to live. A physician and his wife, who were friends, came to see me. After hearing the final conclusions of the doctors, the physician gave me some good advice. He said, "Do not accept this, but take up Christian Science." Then he told us of his wife's cousin being healed in Science in three days after medical science could do no more for her.
While I did not know anything about Christian Science, I had a niece living in another state at that time who had become a student of it. I wrote to my sister and asked her to have my niece work for me in Science. I had always been a very religious person but knew I did not have the understanding to meet this condition. My niece wrote to me at once and started working for me. I remember she included in her first letter positive verses of truth from Psalms and the eighth chapter of Romans. I accepted Christian Science with the full conviction that I would be healed. A short time later my niece sent me Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, but I was healed before I could read it through. There never was any resistance in my thought to its teachings. It fully explains the teachings of Christ Jesus and reveals how he healed the sick and the sinning and overcame death.
I became a member of The Mother Church and had class instruction. Since I lived far from a Christian Science church, I held Sunday services in my home when one or more were present.
