Spiritual conviction founded upon divine Principle brings great peace to its possessor. Such conviction protects one from the tormenting effects of vacillation, which so disastrously undermine spiritual growth.
The unwavering faith of Christ Jesus, even in the face of the most devilish temptations, enabled him to overcome the cross and the grave and thus fulfill his appointed task as the Saviour of mankind. Again and again temptation tried to divert him from his purpose, but always his absolute conviction of the allness of God enabled him to shut out the seeming cruelties of the human scene and replace them with the realities of the kingdom of God. It was to this spiritual conviction that he owed all his marvelous healing works. He did not seesaw between good and evil, the real and the unreal.
All endeavor that lacks conviction is without substance. To enter into a project halfheartedly is to invite failure from the outset. "Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do. do it with thy might,"Eccl. 9:10; says an Old Testament writer. Belief is subject to change, but spiritual understanding is changeless and constitutes the only true basis for conviction.
