"What shall I render unto the Lord for all his benefits toward me? . . . I will pay my vows unto the Lord now in the presence of all his people" (Ps. 116:12–14).
The Bible tells us that God does not give us more than we can bear but makes a way of escape. To me, this means that He gives us the understanding and wisdom to meet every problem and the truth needed to solve it. I was given courage and ability in a position where the work was so heavy that it seemed more than anyone could humanly accomplish. The work, which was much in arrears, was not only brought up to date and arranged so that it could be successfully accomplished in the allotted time, but several officers of the company, including the highest, commended me.
The account of Moses and the rod, from the fourth chapter of Exodus, when God commanded Moses to take the serpent by the tail and it became a rod in his hand, was an inspiration to me. Each time a change in the work entailing more time was recommended I refused to accept it as a detriment but resolved that it would be a rod on which to lean. This was invariably the case as I was obedient in carrying out the demands of my three supervisors. There were days when time seemed to stand still that I might cover all that needed to be done.
