The Christian Science Board of Directors has announced the appointment of William Henry Alton, C. S. B., of New York City as Executive Administrator of The First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston, Massachusetts. Mr. Alton served on the Board of Lectureship from 1963 until he took up his new position in Boston in November, 1969.

As chief administrative executive of The Mother Church organization, Mr. Alton is responsible for determining that policies and plans approved by the Board of Directors are properly implemented. He succeeds David E. Sleeper, C. S. B., who served as Executive Administrator from June, 1968, until his election to the Board of Directors in October, 1969.

Mr. Alton attended schools in New York City and was graduated from Dartmouth College with a B.A. degree in business administration. After graduate studies in engineering, he entered the oil business. He became assistant to the Vice-president of Production for World Operations of the Mobil Oil Company, and from 1937 to 1940 was Assistant Manager for oil exploration in Egypt.
