The desire to give a Christian Science lecture stems from Love. From divine Love itself comes love for our neighbor, a deep compassion toward him, and a longing to share with him the healing and comfort we ourselves are finding in the teachings of Christian Science.
After the decision has been taken to give a lecture, and the invitation, under Mind's guidance, has been sent to and accepted by the lecturer of our choice, we then look for the right place in which to hold this important event. The hall should be suitable for all our needs. Can we do better than follow the instructions given to the two disciples by Christ Jesus when he sent them to prepare a place for him to eat the Passover with his followers? Jesus told them that they would be led to a certain householder, "the goodman of the house," of whom they were to inquire about a suitable room. He finished his instructions with the reassuring message, "And he will shew you a large upper room furnished and prepared: there make ready for us."Mark 14: 14, 15;
Such an unfoldment came about in a most satisfying way for one lecture committee. The hall that they considered suitable for their lecture had been used for a variety of functions and appeared much below the necessary standard. After prayerful work they made a provisional booking. Then the way opened for them to mention to those concerned the church members' doubts regarding the poor condition of the hall. To the great delight of all, they learned that the hall was scheduled for complete redecoration which was finished in good time for the lecture. When we really lean on God, how easily our needs are met!
