When Christian Science was presented to me in 1947, I was going through great mental and physical difficulties. I was continuously under the care of doctors, who did their best to improve my health but without success. However, some experiences left me wondering. For instance, each time that I was under a new medical treatment I was confident, and this confidence always resulted in the improvement of my health. However, the improvement lasted only as long as my faith in the medicine did.
I then began the study of Christian Science and asked help from the Christian Science practitioner who had presented it to me. I gave up the use of medicine at once and with finality. With great patience the practitioner guided my steps. Progress was slow; many false concepts had to be eliminated from my consciousness, and purer and more positive thoughts had to be substituted.
Each minute of my free time was consecrated to the study of the Bible and of Science and Health and other writings of Mrs. Eddy and the periodicals of Christian Science, to which we had subscribed in spite of a difficult financial situation. What seemed to be an expense proved, in reality, an enrichment, and I am extremely grateful for our periodicals. As a result of this study and the help given me by the practitioner, I have regained my health.
