In the book of Isaiah we read (45:23), "Unto me every knee shall bow, every tongue shall swear." A variety of experiences have helped me to understand and obey this basic truth.
I attended the Christian Science Sunday School from the youngest class. As a consequence my childhood was one of freedom, which gives me cause for joy. My deepest gratitude, however, is for my individual spiritual awakening to the deep truth of the significance of Christian Science.
Shortly after graduation from college I had a cold that remained unhealed through my efforts and treatment given by a Christian Science practitioner. After nearly two months of struggle I called another practitioner. The question put to me was, "Have you joined the church?" I had been a member of The Mother Church since my teens, but my home at that time was temporary and branch church membership was not feasible. The spirit of the message proved a blessing for me as I began consistent attendance at the Sunday and Wednesday church services and at Christian Science lectures and subscribed for all the periodicals. And, of course, daily consecrated study of the Lesson-Sermon was begun. I was soon free from the physical problem. This healing brought with it a joyous awakening, and I have continued to be earnest in daily applying the truth of Christian Science.
