Healing and the Firmament

From the March 1970 issue of The Christian Science Journal

The healing method of Christian Science relies upon God to separate the mental causes of disease from the patient. Other mental healing methods may attempt to make this separation by getting the human mind to change in some way, but Christian Science recognizes that God, by His very nature, separates evil from good. God's allness excludes whatever is unlike Him, and since God is infinite good, this necessarily places evil outside of or apart from His good image and likeness, man.

When one becomes ill, he can seek healing in Christian Science on the basis that God is All and this allness separates good from evil. God's declaration "I am All," when understood, reveals the nothingness of evil and shows man to be already free of disease. This heals the sick.

Healing in Christian Science is much more than a mental or intellectual attainment. It is a holy process. It is the revelation in human consciousness of the divine identity, the presence of the infinite I AM—God. Healing comes not so much because of what we do as because of what God is.
