The City of Tranquillity

From the June 1970 issue of The Christian Science Journal

As a country develops from a simple agricultural community to a highly organized society, there is a substantial move of population from country to city. This has presented the world's developed countries with acute problems. The problems are not confined to a single continent but are spread around the globe. Each of the three largest cities in the world, Tokyo, London, and New York, is on a different continent.

Christian Scientists are, and need to be, deeply concerned about the problems of the communities in which they live. Indeed, Mrs. Eddy expected her followers to pray daily for all mankind. Having a practical religion, they will naturally wish to bring the practice of their religion to bear on these problems.
