From early childhood I had the privilege of attending the Christian Science Sunday School. Shortly after I was born, my parents took up the study of Christian Science. My mother had been given up by the doctors, and a friend of the family asked my parents if they would consider Christian Science treatment for my mother. It was agreed to, and the family turned completely to Christian Science. All medicine and material aids that were in the home were thrown out. My mother was quickly and permanently healed. From that time, Christian Science has met our every need.
A healing which took place in my experience some years ago challenges the generally accepted beliefs in regard to hay fever. I had suffered from hay fever in a mild form for two or three years. Christian Science treatment was given, but I would be relieved only to have it return. By this time it affected me not only in so-called hay-fever season but all year. Housecleaning or dusting brought great distress, accompanied by red and running eyes, sneezing, and headache. Finally I began planning my days so that I did not do any of this type of work when I expected to have any activity outside the home during the day or evening. This presented quite a problem, as I was superintendent of the Sunday School and president of a parent-teacher association. I decided it was time this chronic problem was healed completely.
I loved my home, and doing the housework was part of the home. I could see no reason why I should become so uncomfortable when doing this work. I prayed diligently, denying the reality of a disease named hay fever, knowing that it was not from God and so could not be part of my experience. I read what Mrs. Eddy says in Science and Health (p. 175): "In old times who ever heard of dyspepsia, cerebro-spinal meningitis, hay-fever, and rose-cold?
