Testimonies of Healing

Christ Jesus' words "Ye shall know the...

From the January 1971 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Christ Jesus' words "Ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free" (John 8:32) and Mrs. Eddy's statement from Science and Health (p. 494) "Divine Love always has met and always will meet every human need" were the first words I ever saw on the wall of a Church of Christ, Scientist. These two statements had a great impact on my thinking. I had been searching for quite a few years for God, going to churches of different denominations, but I had not found what I was seeking. As years passed, my health expressed my inner turmoil and conflict.

One day I met a very old friend who was more beautiful than when last seen. I started to pass her by, not feeling very presentable, and then decided to stop to find out the secret of her well-being. She greeted me, not knowing who I was, and was somewhat dismayed when I identified myself—the change over the years had been so drastic. She called me later and invited me to a Wednesday evening testimony meeting. That Wednesday I sat on the edge of the pew in a new world—the one I had been looking for. I knew that it was the beginning of a new life for me. Each testimony gave me further assurance that I had found my faith and my God.

I purchased Science and Health the next day and began its study. Immediately things started to happen. The road has at times been rough, and there has been much to overcome in my own thought, but the experience has been beautiful. "Precept upon precept; line upon line" (Isa. 28: 10) was the way I was to progress.
