For many years I have been reading testimonies in The Christian Science Journal and Christian Science Sentinel. They have brought much inspiration and encouragement. It is now with sincere gratitude that I give my own testimony of the efficacy of Christian Science treatment.
As a child I had the opportunity of attending a Christian Science Sunday School from the age of three, but later the teachings learned there were not always practiced. However, those early years have remained precious to me because I was privileged to see many healings through the application of the truth in our home. The memory of those healings and my early training in the teachings of Christian Science were responsible for my returning to these teachings after some years of absence.
During a very trying period of marital discord, I called for the help of a Christian Science practitioner. Because of events that followed (a battle of human wills) I collapsed one evening and went into a coma and was taken to a hospital, where I was placed in a ward for psychiatric treatment. In the center of the blackness, which seemed to engulf me, a sentence from Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy flashed brightly (p. 228): "There is no power apart from God" and I held to this truth and part of a line from the Lord's Prayer (Matt. 6: 10): "Thy will be done."
