From the January 1971 issue of The Christian Science Journal

My gratitude is unbounded for the many blessings received through Christian Science, to God for His ever-presence and loving guidance, for Christ Jesus, our Wayshower and for Mary Baker Eddy's unselfed love in giving this great gift to all mankind.

A few years after World War II, I found myself without a job. After leaving school a few years before the war I had never lacked employment. Now, with a family to support, we found ourselves literally down to our last few dollars, and all material sources seemed exhausted. Just at that time there also appeared to be an acute shortage of jobs for aircraft pilots, which had been my work. There was also pressure from some members of my family for me to seek employment in some other line of work.

During this period both my wife and I prayed, as we are taught in Christian Science, to know that man is always in his right place, that our real job is to continually strive to gain a deeper understanding of God and of man as His reflection. With the prayerful help of a practitioner my wife and I continued our daily work. In a very short time I was led to make a presentation to a large company, something I had never attempted. It was accepted after just two meetings and resulted in my employment as a pilot at a much higher salary than I had ever received. This job in turn led to many more progressive steps in this same line of work.
