Seeking Truth for Its Own Sake

From the February 1971 issue of The Christian Science Journal

What is the basic aim of an earnest, working Christian Scientist? What is his study, prayer, and practice all about?

These questions beg a thoughtful reply. They may bring to mind the life and teachings of Christ Jesus and his unwavering march to a full demonstration of man's spiritual identity in and of the one creative Mind. He had no doubt about what he was doing and where he was going. The Master lived and worked for one purpose only: to break the dream of life in matter and reach the ultimate understanding of man's unity with God—and to show others how to do it. He said to Pilate, "To this end was I born, and for this cause came I into the world, that I should bear witness unto the truth."John 18:37;

The same high motive impels the serious student of Christian Science. As an ardent follower of the Master he studies diligently and strives to emulate in gradual, but ever-increasing, degree Jesus' mastery of material conditions.
