"I can't be fooled by lame logic"

From the August 1971 issue of The Christian Science Journal

I know a family of Christian Scientists, now in its sixth generation, whose members have learned to defend their thinking from false theories, suggestions, and worldly allurements, which confront mankind today, with a firm declaration, "I can't be fooled by lame logic!"

This is not a mere defensive stand on their part, socially restrictive, but a quick, bold thrust against whatever denies the Christ, the truth of man's unity with Spirit. Being the expression of Spirit, such a stand is the death blow to suggestions of power, intelligence, and substance opposed to God, which would conflict with true welfare and progress. It protects pure thinking and at the same time frees men from enfeebling beliefs that matter and material sensations govern them.

The dominant force of evil as it operates in the world today and the root of its every aspect rest in its system of false education—the teaching that consciousness or ego exists in matter instead of in Spirit, and that its sensations of pleasure and pain emanate from and govern the body. Spiritual facts belie this lame logic. But a great spiritual awakening is needed to change the downward current it imposes on mankind from the moment of birth.
