My heart overflows with gratitude for God, our Father-Mother, the source of all good, for Christ Jesus who came so that we might have abundant life, and for Mrs. Eddy, who revealed Christian Science, the Comforter, present with us.
One afternoon in the cold early springtime I had all the symptoms of a head cold. In the evening the cold turned into influenza. By Saturday morning the fever was so high that I had to stay in bed. I studied the Christian Science Quarterly Lesson-Sermon thoroughly, and a part of the chapter on the practice of Christian Science from the textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy. This deep study enabled me to get up by late morning. I went about my usual occupations, but at a slower pace, for rheumatism in my left hand made me clumsy.
