Church in Action News and announcements

From the Directors: Closer communication

From the October 1972 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Practical steps are being taken to translate into tangible action the five-year goal of The Mother Church announced at the 1971 Annual Meeting. This goal calls for action "To strengthen the healing thrust of our movement, thus improving our ability to respond to the needs of mankind by spiritual means."

In order to make such action as meaningful as possible, The Christian Science Board of Directors is devoting special effort to becoming thoroughly informed firsthand on the progress, needs, and opportunities of the Christian Science movement throughout the world. As part of this program, last year a member of this Board made a visit to Hawaii, Australia, and New Zealand.

We are pleased to announce that another member of our Board, David E. Sleeper, is visiting Latin America during all of October and part of November this year. Mr. Sleeper will bring a message from The Mother Church to audiences in major cities. And he is scheduled to talk with Christian Science practitioners and teachers, and with members of branch churches, societies, college organizations, and informal groups in nine countries.
