Testimonies of Healing

"Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard...

From the October 1973 issue of The Christian Science Journal

"Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him" (I Cor. 2:9).

When my husband decided to investigate Christian Science, I was in a miserable state. Ill health had kept me from working for two years. Blinding attacks of medically diagnosed iritis, crippling attacks of bursitis in my shoulders, colds, headaches, and chronic fatigue were some of the manifestations of my need for the understanding of God and His loving care for each of His children. I felt frustrated in my goal of becoming a fine artist and could see no clear path to advance upon. Pain and discouragement were constant companions.

My husband had had access to The Christian Science Monitor at his office. He had been in the habit of bringing home to me The Home Forum page for the splendid art photographs, and we had saved a large pile of them. The religious articles on these pages now became our introduction to Christian Science. I purchased two paperback copies of Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy. As I read my copy, I was healed of a recurrent hip condition which prevented me from walking freely. We began attending the nearest branch Church of Christ, Scientist. When its attendance requirement was met, we were most lovingly admitted to active membership.
