I am very grateful for Christian Science, which has been my only guide and physician for thirty-eight years. The first time I read Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy I was healed of the smoking habit and social drinking. During the years we have had many healings in our home, including the overcoming of lack and limitation. I have also proved many times that Christian Science can be a great help in the business world. I do not know what I would do without Science to turn to constantly for guidance and in making important decisions.
I would like to tell of a healing I had about two years ago, for which I am deeply grateful. I fell from the roof of our house, dropping fourteen feet onto an asphalt driveway below. The bone structure on the left side of my body was pushed out of place by the impact of the fall, and my left hand was twisted out of shape. When I had regained consciousness, I found my wife had called a neighbor and his son to carry me into the house. I was placed on a rubber mattress on the floor. I was unable to move my body at all.
I immediately began to declare "the scientific statement of being," given in Science and Health. The opening words are (p. 468): "There is no life, truth, intelligence, nor substance in matter. All is infinite Mind and its infinite manifestation, for God is All-in-all." I prayed very earnestly for a better understanding of the healing truth, which I knew to be in that statement. I can gratefully say that neither my wife nor I had any fear whatsoever, nor was there ever a shadow of doubt in our thoughts that the Christ, Truth, as taught in Christian Science, would be able to heal me, as it had done in the past.
