When a Sunday School teacher consistently lives the spiritual truths he teaches, students feel his enthusiasm and deep conviction. His actions and experience give reality to his words. Otherwise they're just words.
Mrs. Eddy makes clear that "it is the living Christ, the practical Truth, which makes Jesus 'the resurrection and the life' to all who follow him in deed" (Science and Health, p. 31). Then, further on in Science and Health she urges Christian Scientists: "Ask yourself: Am I living the life that approaches the supreme good? Am I demonstrating the healing power of Truth and Love?" But she also tells us how to accomplish this. "Hold perpetually this thought,—that it is the spiritual idea, the Holy Ghost and Christ, which enables you to demonstrate, with scientific certainty, the rule of healing, based upon its divine Principle, Love, underlying, overlying, and encompassing all true being" (p. 496).
Catching the spirit of this scientific truth, we become imbued with fresh dominion. We can see more clearly the power impelling, directing, and undergirding our efforts to live, love, and teach the truth that Christ Jesus and his follower, Mrs. Eddy, made practical. In fact, it's natural to become so imbued and so convinced of the power and goodness of God that our pupils will want to discover this confidence and inner peace for themselves.
