False, material belief would convince one that he first has to satisfy mere human opinions, expectations, and desires—his own and those of others—and that conforming his life to divine demands can come later, if ever. Truth reveals to one that genuine, unselfish service to God and to his neighbor is much more important, and that this is the only way one can really find lasting—or even immediate—peace, joy, and freedom.
