This series gives firsthand accounts of how a number of successful Christian Science Sunday School teachers approach their assignments. It will appear in those issues of the Journal not containing the quarterly "Sunday School" column.

"How I teach my Sunday School class"

From the November 1974 issue of The Christian Science Journal

I must say first what a precious experience I find this. I think it's one of the very special church jobs!

I find it requires exercising some qualities which may have lain dormant— qualities such as ingenuity, flexibility, receptivity, imagination, humility, inspiration, a ready sense of humor, and—the greatest of all—an overflowing sense of love for each one of the children in the class.

My age-group is one year through six. As a teacher I expect the little ones to be obedient, to happily sit on their chairs, and to be receptive, and this has always been the case in proportion to my spiritual preparedness. I am continually delighted at the perception and intelligence shown by these little ones—when I expect to find it!
